Google Phone- Nexus One

In the current telecommunications market, smart phones like iPhone, droid.. are selling like hot cakes. There is a huge competition by leading players like Apple, Samsung, Nokia, Motorola to dominate the smart phone industry. Now there is an another major competitor added to the list.It is the web gaint Google.

From past few years Google was involved in the Cellphone industry via its mobile O.S Android. Now after catching everyone's attention and having gained the momentum, Google is all set to sell its own phone, built by HTC and named the Nexus One.

The cell phone will be released in Jan 2010. It will sell the Google Phone online and the good news is it will be unlocked!!, so you’ll need to buy your cellular service separately. The software would be Android 2.1 and hardware will be built by HTC.

Below is the extract from the leading social media site "Mashable" about the possible cell phone and its plan details
"Here are some of the key details you should know:
- Price: $530 unsubsidized and unlocked (ouch!), $180 subsidized on the T-Mobile network with a 2 year contract.
- Rate Plan: $79.99 per month on T-Mobile, which includes unlimited texting/MMS and web data, along with 500 minutes. This seems to be the only plan available, even if you’re already on another plan with T-Mobile
- Purchasing: You can buy up to five Nexus One phones per Google account.
- Cancellation: If you cancel within 120 days, you have to pay the subsidy difference ($350) or return the phone to Google.

Google Chrome OS ready to be launched!!

Are you a Google fan? Thinking of trying a new operating system? Most of you all might know/heard that Google will be releasing its own operating system and you might be excited about its release. Wondering or waiting impatiently for its release. If so just wait for a week more and you probably  might be using Google Chrome OS.

According the article posted by Michael Arrington in Techcrunch website, Google will be releasing Google Chrome OS next week. Read his article where he mentions what we can expect in Google Chrome OS.

Here is an extract from Google's Blog about Google Chrome OS as posted on 77/09
"Google Chrome OS is an open source, lightweight operating system that will initially be targeted at netbooks. Later this year we will open-source its code, and netbooks running Google Chrome OS will be available for consumers in the second half of 2010. Because we're already talking to partners about the project, and we'll soon be working with the open source community, we wanted to share our vision now so everyone understands what we are trying to achieve.

Speed, simplicity and security are the key aspects of Google Chrome OS. We're designing the OS to be fast and lightweight, to start up and get you onto the web in a few seconds. The user interface is minimal to stay out of your way, and most of the user experience takes place on the web. And as we did for the Google Chrome browser, we are going back to the basics and completely redesigning the underlying security architecture of the OS so that users don't have to deal with viruses, malware and security updates. It should just work.

Google Chrome OS will run on both x86 as well as ARM chips and we are working with multiple OEMs to bring a number of netbooks to market next year. The software architecture is simple — Google Chrome running within a new windowing system on top of a Linux kernel. For application developers, the web is the platform. All web-based applications will automatically work and new applications can be written using your favorite web technologies. And of course, these apps will run not only on Google Chrome OS, but on any standards-based browser on Windows, Mac and Linux thereby giving developers the largest user base of any platform.

Google Chrome OS is a new project, separate from Android. Android was designed from the beginning to work across a variety of devices from phones to set-top boxes to netbooks. Google Chrome OS is being created for people who spend most of their time on the web, and is being designed to power computers ranging from small netbooks to full-size desktop systems. While there are areas where Google Chrome OS and Android overlap, we believe choice will drive innovation for the benefit of everyone, including Google.

"Go" A new programming language by Google.

Google has launched its own programming language called Go.

Here is an extract from the Google's Blog describing  about Go.

"Here at Google, we believe programming should be fast, productive, and most importantly, fun. That's why we're excited to open source an experimental new language called Go. Go combines the development speed of working in a dynamic language like Python with the performance and safety of a compiled language like C or C++. Typical builds feel instantaneous; even large binaries compile in just a few seconds. And the compiled code runs close to the speed of C. Go lets you move fast.

Go is a great language for systems programming with support for multi-processing, a fresh and lightweight take on object-oriented design, plus some cool features like true closures and reflection.

Want to write a server with thousands of communicating threads? Want to spend less time reading blogs while waiting for builds? "

For more information about Go visit golang.org also check out the Go tutorial here.
